Apprenticed instruction in the traditional art of making and maintenance of saddles, harness, and related tack items, with an emphasis on heritage methods and tools. Related instruction in the making of trunks, leather containers, and similar items will be included, along with an elementary understanding of heavy upholstering. An emphasis upon proper fitting of saddles and tack will be part of this apprenticeship, and regular field-experience trips will be conducted to view and study traditional and historical examples will be featured.
