ROOT & BRANCH: GRAFTING THE TRUE, THE GOOD, & THE BEAUTIFUL INTO CRAFTSMANSHIP AS A CALLING

WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE to graft together, into the soul and soil of future generations, the considerable strengths of over 2,000 years of Classical Christian education philosophy with traditional, apprenticed, handwork trades? This Master-Apprentice way of forming faith, wisdom, knowledge, skill, and virtue is called the “Root & Branch” philosophy of Classical Christian learning.

This is exactly what THE FELLOWSHIP OF ARTS & MYSTERIES, LTD. seeks to implement by establishing COLLEGIUM KINGSGATE in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.  This secondary school for Grades 7-12 (ages 12-18) will follow in the great tradition of the Classical Academy movement, whilst also following in the tradition of the master-apprentice way of learning one’s “art & mystery” (viz., skilled artisan trade) when guilds were also educational and cultural institutions.

YOU ARE THEREFORE CORDIALLY INVITED to attend a brief discussion and explanation of this fresh (but altogether ancient) philosophy of forming tomorrow’s Christian thinkers within the apprenticed, handwork trades as a calling.  This will be held at the Nimick Education Center; 6 Old Lincoln Hwy.; Ligonier, PA 15658.  [Google Maps link here.]

At the end of an engaging 20-minute PowerPoint presentation by founding Alderman and Master Shoemaker, Brett Walker, the public’s questions regarding KINGSGATE will be welcomed and answered.  Light refreshments and hors d’œuvres will be served.
