Coopering (“white,” “slack,” & “tight”):

 

Apprenticed instruction in the arts of white cooperage (buckets, tubs, and other straight-sided containers), slack cooperage (casks for dry storage), and tight cooperage (barrels, pipes, pin kegs, and other liquid-tight containers. A thorough understanding and mastery of selection, seasoning, and preparation of materials, as well as of the history of this important craft, its legends and lore, and its practical applications (even into the 21st-century) will be taught.
