LAST SUMMER, The Fellowship of Arts & Mysteries, Ltd., held our first public event — a “friend-raiser” event (to get the word out about our work) — in Pittsburgh. We called it A Latesummer Afternoon Tea, and were pleased to have a few more than forty guests in attendance. This year, we are working with the Ligonier Country Club in Ligonier, PA to offer our first official fundraiser event, “The Kingsgate Par-Tea.” This unique event combines a relaxed autumn afternoon tea with a vintage golf outing, in a signature event which will truly be — in the words of Nat King Cole —

“…Unforgettable…”

The Ligonier Country Club was established in 1925 (during the “Golden Age of Golf” – viz., 1920’s -1940’s), and thus they are celebrating their centennial anniversary in timeless style.  Joining them in the spirit of this celebration (and adding our own love of tradition and tea to it), the Kingsgate Par-Tea will feature vintage-style “hickory stick” golf clubs, traditional golf balls, &c.

Guests will be encouraged (but not required) to wear their favourite vintage clothing (golf knickers, kilts, zoot suits, tweeds, WWII items, &c.), with a late-morning tee time and a light lunch at the turn.  With mid-October being the height of fall colours for the charming Laurel Highlands, this should be a perfectly delightful day.

In addition to a jolly golf scramble (conducted in the most vintage manner), including on-course skill games (with prizes), other activities to enjoy throughout the day will include:

  • A selection of golf caddies offering their exemplary and unique skills, indefatigable golf-bag transportation, and natty fashion sense to the highest bidders.

  • Vintage bocce on a green for non-golfers and for traditional bocce afficionados.
  • The Boilermaker Jazz Quartet, led by Paul Consentino, providing music of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s for guests’ enjoyment throughout the day and during the social hour between the golf outing and the Afternoon Tea.  [Perhaps they’ll even inspire an impromptu jitterbug or waltz or two!]
  • Kilted bagpiper playing around the course and for the closing ceremony.
  • And perhaps a few more fun surprises…

At three o’clock, as golfing wraps up, a cash bar and lovely surroundings will give golfers a chance to relax a little during the social hour.  Then, at the very traditional hour of four o’clock in the afternoon, guests will enjoy an authentic British tea-time experience worthy of a lord or lady, complete with raffle and auction items and featured speakers, winding down the day whilst everyone enjoys the charming sights of the Laurel Highlands.  The event wraps up by six o’clock, leaving people time to have evening dinner reservations at any number of local restaurants.

The Fellowship is confident that our little bit of “tee ‘n’ tea” is going to offer our guests a dynamite time, positively bursting with cheerful energy, autumnal weather, and fun.  We trust that it will become a cherished, annual tradition for The Fellowship and our friends, and we sincerely hope that you consider being a part of the first annual Kingsgate Par-Tea.

Please preregister below and save the date — October 17, 2025 — to have a wonderful time with us and “Fore!” a worthy cause!
